BREAKDOWN:
Released at National Quartet Convention, the latest project from beloved quartet The Guardians is a special compilation of their most requested songs entitled The Ones You Loved The Most. This exciting recording features twelve hit songs for the group refreshed by the current lineup featuring longtime lead singer John Darin Rowsey, bass singer Pat Barker, tenor singer Paul Lancaster (who joined in 2023), and newest member and baritone singer Dale Forbes (who joined in 2025). Pat Barker’s signature bass voice can be heard on the groovy “Heaven Is Happening,” the energy filled “I Wish I Could Tell You,” his signature song “How Big Is God,” and the fun groove “God Fights On My Side.” John Darin Rowsey is featured on the anthem “Somebody Prays,” the moving ballad “He Loves,” and “Present In The Presence Of The King.”
Paul Lancaster takes the lead on the up-tempo quartet “It’s Still Good News,” which originally featured John Darin Rowsey. He is also featured on the tender ballad “Moment Of Grace.”
Dale Forbes shines on the powerful ballad “He Grew The Tree,” “Present In The Presence Of The King,” and the fun, up-tempo “Woke Up This Morning.”

FINAL THOUGHTS:
Rather than recycle original cuts, the Guardians deliver an incredible compilation album here with fresh vocals on their most beloved songs. While I was familiar with most of these tracks, I enjoyed discovering a few that I personally had not heard before such as “Moment Of Grace,” “Somebody Prays,” and “Present In The Presence Of The King.” This album features top notch vocals, incredible songs, and stellar production quality. Highlights include: “Moment Of Grace,” “God Fights On My Side,” “Heaven Is Happening,” “How Big Is God,” and “He Grew The Tree.”

5 out 5 stars!
