BREAKDOWN:

Timeless. There are several definitions of this term: not affected by time, eternal, and ageless. It can also mean: not decreasing over time in either quality or appeal. This simple word most definitely applies to not only Our Savior, but the long cherished hymns of the Church. Greater Vision teams once again with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in London to bring listeners the fittingly titled: Timeless Hymns. This fourteen song project was masterfully crafted by producers Gerald Wolfe and Trey Ivey, with the latter serving as arranger and orchestrator as well. Featuring the current vocal lineup of lead Rodney Griffin, tenor Chris Allman and baritone Scott Mullins, this album is sure to be a blessing to all who listen.
Trey Ivey does a simply brilliant job delivering epic, lush, and stunning orchestral arrangements to these classics. From the opening of energy-filled “Revive Us Again” to the triumphant “Praise Him Praise Him!” to the reverent “It Is Well,” this album is a beautiful musical journey through the decades full of worship. Chris Allman delivers a stellar vocal performance on the tender “This Is My Father’s World.” This beautiful lyric reminds us of God’s Sovereignty and reflects on His awe inspiring Creation. Scott Mullins is featured on “My Savior First Of All (I Shall Know Him),” an incredible lyric that looks forward to the day when we shall meet Jesus face to face. Mullins’ warm baritone is showcased beautifully on this stellar hymn. Rodney Griffin delivers an incredible vocal on the oft-recorded “No One Ever Cared For Me Like Jesus.” This rendition is simply brilliant.
FINAL THOUGHTS:
This album is a masterpiece. One of the best recordings from this talented trio in my humble opinion. Featuring incredible vocals, lush orchestration, and beautiful arrangements of beloved hymns, this album is a must have for any fan not only of Greater Vision and classic hymns, but of musical excellence.
Highlights include: “The Love Of God,” “This Is My Father’s World,” “It Is Well,” “No One Ever Cared For Me Like Jesus,” and “My Savior First Of All (I Shall Know Him).”

5 out of 5 stars!
