BREAKDOWN:

Beloved Southern Gospel quartet Ernie Haase & Signature Sound continue to expand their musical repertoire. Celebrating the rich musical history of the USA, Ernie Haase, Dustin Doyle, Doug Anderson, and Christopher Taylor put their spin on patriotic classics, country standards, inspirational tunes, and even some Broadway favorites. America: Land Of Hopes And Dreams takes listeners on a journey of faith, freedom, and hope while celebrating this country and paying tribute to its history.
This exciting project opens with a well crafted medley of early American classics including: “Yankee Doodle,” “Polly-Wolly-Doodle,” “Down By The Ole Mill Stream,” “Down By The Riverside,” and more. “This Land Is Your Land” is given a great treatment complete with banjo infused country stylings. Each member is featured on a verse of this fun, classic tune. The quartet’s stellar harmonies are showcased on the epic, patriotic anthem “America, The Beautiful.” The group covers the Neil Diamond hit “America” which became an anthem for immigration to the United States. Ernie Haase takes the lead on the beautiful ballad “The House I Live In,” originally made popular by Frank Sinatra. This incredible song reminds of what it truly means to be American. Doug Anderson and Dustin Doyle take the lead on the John Denver classic “Take Me Home, Country Roads.” This song is pure warmth and nostalgia for so many, myself included. Dustin Doyle’s smooth lead vocal on “History Has Its Eyes On You” is one of several standouts on this incredible project. From the highly acclaimed musical Hamilton, this groovy song reflects on legacy and the importance of carrying on our cherished traditions. “When Johnny Comes Marching Home” is a song dating back to the American Civil War that expressed people’s longing for their soldier relatives to return home. This patriotic classic is given an epic treatment here. Christopher Taylor takes the lead on the Irving Berlin anthem “God Bless America.” Taylor’s smooth, rich bass voice has truly been an incredible addition to the group. The members of EHSS have been fans and friends of the legendary Oak Ridge Boys for years. To pay tribute to this American Country and Gospel Hall of Fame quartet, they cover two of their most beloved songs: “Everyday” and “American Made.” “Happy Trails” and “Take Me Out To The Ball Game” are two more classics that celebrate community and this country’s rich traditions. Christopher Taylor takes the lead again on the tender “Michael, Row Your Boat Ashore.” Taylor delivers a truly stellar vocal on this beloved tune. Doug Anderson’s beloved baritone is featured on the Simon & Garfunkel hit “Bridge Over Troubled Water.” This is one of the standout tracks on the album not only for its vocal excellence, but its emotion and depth. This incredible album closes with a stellar rendition of another classic patriotic anthem: Lee Greenwood’s “God Bless The USA.”

FINAL THOUGHTS:
EHSS delivers a truly heartfelt collection of American classics that pay tribute to this great nation. Featuring themes of hope, community, freedom, faith, and national identity, this album takes listeners on a musical journey that is sure to put a smile on their faces. Not only are the vocals top notch, the production quality, the arrangements, and musical accompaniment are all masterful.
Highlights include: “History Has Its Eyes On You,” “American Made,” “Everyday,” “Michael, Row Your Boat Ashore,” “Bridge Over Troubled Water,” and “The House I Live In.”

5 out of 5 stars!
