BREAKDOWN:
Butler Music Group artist Voice of Truth Quartet is back with two exciting new projects. Produced by Les Butler and featuring the vocal lineup of tenor Scott Edwards, lead Paul Holden, baritone Ken Dodd, and bass Jonathan Harris, these albums showcase the message of hope, faith, and truth found in our Savior Jesus Christ.
Right Room features ten original songs (most of which were co-written by group founder and tenor Scott Edwards), while Hymns Of A Lifetime, as the title suggests, features ten classic standards of the church.
Right Room opens with the groovy title track that simply says: Bring your burdens to Jesus. He is here with you in the room. If He is there, you are in the right room! “How He’s Gonna Do It This Time,” featuring Paul Holden and Scott Edwards, is a fun, mid-tempo tune that reminds us that God works all things for good and He is Faithful always. Scott Holden’s smooth tenor is showcased on the tender, yet powerful ballad “He Sees Calvary.” This incredible song beautifully articulates the message of the Gospel. Christ loved us so much He died to save us from our sin. When He looks at us, He sees Calvary. Jonathan Harris is featured on the fun, up-tempo quartet style tune “Listening For The Victory Shout.” This energy-filled track simply says: I’m looking forward to the day when He calls me out and I join Him in Heaven. “Justified, Delivered, And Redeemed” is another up-tempo tune that praises Christ for His Redeeming Blood. Jonathan Harris and Paul Holden take the verses of the up-tempo tune “It’s The Blood.” This energy filled song reminds us that when the world says you can’t make it, Jesus says you can through Him. Scott Edwards takes the lead again on the jazzy “No One Ever Loved Me Like Jesus,” which simply says: the Love of Jesus is unmatched. He is all I need. The smooth bass vocals of Jonathan Harris are featured once again on the groovy “I Have A Reason.” This fun, mid-tempo tune reminds us that no matter what you are going through, you have a reason to sing and praise Him. He will bring you out! “Walking Your Way” is a powerful mid-tempo ballad that encourages listeners to reach out for Jesus. God’s Mighty Power is ready to save! Sweet victory is walking your way. This great album closes with the energy-filled tune “Wish You Could Have Been There.”
Hymns Of A Lifetime opens with a beautiful rendition of the classic “Great Is Thy Faithfulness.” Those with a keen ear will recognize this arrangement as that of Legacy Five’s from their 2014 album Great Day. “I Want To Know More About My Lord” is another familiar quartet tune that is given a great treatment here. Paul Holden takes the lead on the standard “I Won’t Have To Cross Jordan Alone” which assures believers of the promise that we won’t cross into Heaven alone. The group delivers stellar renditions of the classics “I’ll Have A New Life” and “In The Sweet Forever.” Jonathan Harris nails the bass “step-out” lines. Scott Edwards takes the lead on the beautiful standard “Softly And Tenderly.” Jonathan Harris and Scott Edwards take the verses of the beloved “The Haven Of Rest” which says: I have anchored my soul in the Haven Of Rest. In Jesus, I am safe evermore. The classic quartet tune “We’ll Soon Be Done” is done justice here with a fun arrangement. Ken Dodd is featured on the powerful “Then Jesus Came” which tells of the transforming power of Jesus. All is changed when Jesus comes to stay. This great recording closes with the fun quartet tune “When We Sing Around The Throne Eternal.” Jonathan Harris’s smooth bass is featured on the classic step-out lines in the chorus.
FINAL THOUGHTS:
Voice Of Truth Quartet delivers two stellar projects featuring great vocals, incredible songs, and the powerful message of the Gospel. Highlights include: “Right Room”, “He Sees Calvary,” “It’s The Blood,” “Walking Your Way,” “I’ll Have A New Life,” “In The Sweet Forever,” “The Haven Of Rest,” and “Then Jesus Came.”
