BREAKDOWN:

Gene McDonald’s unmistakable bass voice has been a mainstay in Southern Gospel Music for over thirty years. As a member of The McDonald Family, The Plainsmen, The Florida Boys, and the Gaither Homecoming series, he has delighted audiences all over the world with his incredible voice. Last year, McDonald went back into the archives and re-released his first solo project: Still Sounds Right. In 1992, Gene was singing with The Plainsmen and had been living in Nashville for a few years at the urging of Ben Speer. Speer served as a mentor to him in those rough early days. He also recorded, produced, and gave him the first order of this album. Now, as a tribute to his friend and mentor, this project is available on CD for the first time.

This incredible project features timeless Southern Gospel classics including: “It Is No Secret,” “For What Earthly Reason,” “The Eastern Gate,” “Who Am I?,” and more. Each song showcases Gene’s unbelieve range and his love for the Lord.

FINAL THOUGHTS:

AFTER OVER THIRTY YEARS, STILL SOUNDS RIGHTS SOUNDS INCREDIBLE! THIS IS A GREAT COLLECTION OF SONGS SUNG BY ONE OF MY FAVORITE BASS SINGERS. I HAVE HAD THE PLEASURE OF HEARING HIM IN CONCERT MANY TIMES NOW  AND I AM LUCKY TO CALL HIM A FRIEND AS WELL.

THIS IS MUST HAVE FOR FANS OF CLASSIC SOUTHERN GOSPEL AND GOOD OLD FASHIONED BASS SINGING.
