BREAKDOWN:

The Guardians are back with, in my humble opinion, one of the best projects to date. This exciting project features the debut of Dale Forbes in the baritone position following the departure of Scott Mullins, who went on to join Greater Vision. Forbes is no stranger to Southern Gospel music as he has traveled with the legendary Singing Americans and the Anchormen. Forbes is joined by longtime member (and now owner) John Darin Rowsey, bass Pat Barker, and tenor Paul Lancaster. Where Healing Happens features eleven incredible songs of hope, faith, and inspiration. John Darin Rowsey co-wrote all but two of these well-crafted selections.

This incredible album opens with the jazzy “Battle Song” which proclaims: I will not fear for He is near. Through His Mighty Hand, I can stand! We have victory in Christ Jesus! “Kick Up My Heels And Sing” is a fun, up-tempo tune featuring Paul Lancaster that praises Christ for His many blessings. His Mercies are new everyday! Pat Barker delivers an incredible vocal on the beautiful and deeply moving “I Know You.” This powerful ballad reminds listeners that God loves us. I am unworthy of His Love, but still He freely gives it. He is Holy and Worthy of our praise! He meets our every need! I’m thankful that He knows me, but even more I am glad I know Him! Paul Lancaster is featured once again on the energy filled “According To John.” This fun, groovy tune tells of the sights of Heaven as described by the apostle John. John Darin Rowsey is featured on the powerful “That Somebody Was Me.” This incredible song tells of the transforming power of Christ. Somebody needed a Savior and that somebody was me! “God Is Doing A Work” is a fun tune,featuring Dale Forbes,that simply reminds us that God works all things together for good to those who love Him. Paul Lancaster is once again featured on the title track: a powerful track that encourages listeners to leave their burdens at Jesus’ feet. Put your trust in Him. “Step To The Right” is a fun groovy tune that features Pat Barker and simply says: take a little step and follow where He leads. Walk the straight and narrow. Follow Heaven’s best. Dale Forbes is featured again on the beautiful ballad “What Kind Of Life.” This powerful song simply says: what kind of life is worth living without God. I am nothing without Him! John Darin Rowsey takes the lead on one of his most popular songs: “Singing With The Saints.” I’ve always loved this song since I heard the Gaither Vocal Band version. The Guardians deliver a truly fantastic version here. This incredible album closes with a guest vocal from group founder and former tenor Dean Hickman. Hickman delivers a deeply moving vocal on the praise filled “Worthy Is The Lamb.”

FINAL THOUGHTS:

THIS PROJECT IS TRULY ONE OF THE GUARDIANS’ BEST. ANOINTED VOCALS AND SONGS. DALE FORBES IS A POWERHOUSE VOCALIST AND A GREAT ADDITION TO THE GROUP. HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDE: “STEP TO THE RIGHT,” “I KNOW YOU,” “THAT SOMEBODY WAS ME,” “WHERE HEALING HAPPENS,” “WORTHY IS THE LAMB,” AND “KICK UP MY HEELS AND SING.”

ONE OF THE BEST ALBUMS OF THE YEAR!
