BREAKDOWN:
The Perrys have been blessed with a career that has now spanned over five decades. There have been many ups and downs on this long, long road, but God has been faithful. Founding member Libbi Perry Stuffle and her son Jared are joined by lead singer Dayton Gay and baritone Jason Gordon, who both joined the quartet last year. This album features a great mix of traditional and new material all with that classic Perrys style.
This exciting album opens with the energy filled title track. This fun convention style tune simply says: it’s a long road, but it is worth the journey. A better home is waiting! “A Million Reasons” is a powerful ballad featuring Jason Gordon that reminds us of God’s unwavering Love for us. I’ve given Him a million reasons not to love me, but none of them have changed His Mind. Libbi Perry Stuffle takes the lead on the Dottie Rambo classic “Maybe When The Sun Comes Up.” This great mid-tempo tune looks to Heaven and the joy that awaits. “Hallelujah Meetin’” is a fun, up-tempo convention style tune originally recorded by the Hinsons among others. Jason Gordon is featured again on the moving ballad “Jesus Is.” This powerful song reminds us of Christ’s perfect Love. Dayton Gay takes the lead on “That Kind Of Faith,” a moving ballad that encourages listeners to place their faith in Jesus. Even if it is smaller than a seed, remember God said that’s all you need! “You Can’t Hurry God” is a groovy, up-tempo tune that reminds us of God’s perfect timing. He may not come when you want Him, but He will be right on time! Jared Stuffle shines on the mid-tempo ballad “He Never Gave Up On Me.” This country style tune powerfully reminds us that God gave it all up for us. He never gave up on me! I’m saved! To rescue my soul, He gave up His Life! Jared does an incredible job delivering this powerful message. His bass vocal continues to improve with each new recording. Jason Gordon is once again featured on a great refresh of an Hemphill classic “The Night I Walked The Aisle.” This fun tune tells of the day Jesus saved a lost soul! Libbi takes the lead once again on the mid-tempo track “By The Blood.” This moving song proclaims: We place our hope in Jesus. We can go through fire and flood and make it Home by His Blood! This beautiful song is a great way to close out the album.
FINAL THOUGHTS:
THE PERRYS HAVE HAD A LONG AND STORIED CAREER AND THIS ALBUM IS A BEAUTIFUL TESTAMENT TO GOD’S FAITHFULNESS IN THEIR LIVES. DAYTON GAY AND JASON GORDON ARE FANTASTIC ADDITIONS TO THE GROUP. THEY EACH BRING A DYNAMIC AND RICH VOCAL TO THE QUARTET. THIS ALBUM FEATURES TOP NOTCH VOCALS, INCREDIBLE SONGS, AND STELLAR MUSICIANSHIP. HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDE: “A MILLION REASONS,” “YOU CAN’T HURRY GOD,” “LONG, LONG ROAD,” “THE NIGHT I WALKED THE AISLE,” AND “HE NEVER GAVE UP ON ME.”
