BREAKDOWN:

Last year, Unity 4 released their first Christmas project. A Unity 4 Christmas features eleven classic Christmas songs done in Unity 4’s signature style. This album is sure to get listeners in the Christmas spirit and celebrate the birth of our Savior.

This spirit filled album opens with the now classic Southern Gospel Christmas tune “Glory To God In The Highest.” Reggie Furtick shines on the second verse. Casey and J.C. Johnson each take the verses on the classic “Jingle Bells.” Reggie Furtick’s smooth bass is featured on the tender ballad “Sweet Little Jesus Boy.” This beautiful spiritual reminds us of the true meaning of the holiday season. It is an apology to God for missing the point of the season as the world has so often. Next, the group covers the Gold City/Kingdom Heirs classic “That Little Baby.” This fun quartet style tune, featuring Casey Johnson, stays true to the original versions. J.C. Johnson and Reggie Furtick take the verse of the tender classic “Beautiful Star Of Bethlehem.” This is one of my favorite Christmas songs and the group does it justice. The group’s harmonies shine on the classic “Winter Wonderland” while Casey Johnson delivers a powerful lead vocal on the popular “Mary Did You Know.” Heath Pannell takes the lead on “Silver Bells,” which stays true to the Kingdom Heirs arrangement. J.C. Johnson and Heath Pannell take the verses on the classic “White Christmas,” done in the arrangement made popular by the Drifters. Next, the group covers the Kingdom Heirs version of “Who Do You Think.” J.C. Johnson’s warm, rich baritone shines on this classic song. This stellar album closes with a Doo Wop style rendition of “Silent Night” featuring Casey Johnson, Heath Pannell, and Reggie Furtick.

FINAL THOUGHTS:

WHILE THIS ALBUM FEATURES MANY SONGS THAT ARE RECORDED FREQUENTLY, UNITY 4 DOES AN INCREDIBLE JOB PUTTING THEIR STAMP ON THESE CLASSICS. THIS LINEUP BLENDS SO WELL TOGETHER AND THEIR HARMONIES ARE SIMPLY FANTASTIC. THEIR LOVE FOR THE LORD SHINES THROUGH EACH SONG. THIS ALBUM WILL BE A GREAT ADDITION TO MY CHRISTMAS PLAYLIST. HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDE: “SILENT NIGHT,” “WHITE CHRISTMAS,” “BEAUTIFUL STAR OF BETHLEHEM,” “SWEET LITTLE JESUS BOY,” AND “THAT LITTLE BABY.”

4.5 OUT OF 5 STARS!
