THOUGHTS:
Mark Bishop is back with another collection of inspirational songs with Home. Bishop, who has been blessed with a nearly forty year recording career, is known for his unique style and giving each project a new and fresh personality musically. This exciting recording features eleven songs of hope written by Bishop himself. James McFarland joins him to pen the powerful anthem “I Am Unshackled/Thank God I’m Free.”
The album opens with the upbeat “I Found Something Better” which simply says: when Satan comes around, tell him you found something better. “A Lovely Tapestry” tells of the blessings of God. God is weaving your story together. He’s making a lovely tapestry. Karen Peck Gooch joins Bishop for a fantastic duet on the mid-tempo “But There Is A Cross.” This great song tells of Christ’s Sacrifice and His Love for us. “If We Can’t Be Happy Here” is a fun, bouncy tune that reminds us of the true happiness that awaits us in Heaven. It also encourages us to look for the good in our lives while here on Earth. If we can’t be happy here, then how are we gonna be happy there? “What I Don’t Know How To Do, Jesus Does” is a sweet reminder that only God can heal a heart that is hurting. Only He can put broken lives back together. I don’t know how give hope to the hopeless, but Jesus does. The title track is a groovy tune that features Freddie Ratliff on harmonies. This fun song looks to our Heavenly Home where our worries and troubles will be gone. “Come Unto Me All Ye Who Are Weary” is mid-tempo country styled tune that tells of the promise of eternal life in Jesus Christ. Come unto Him and He will give you rest. The groovy “I Met Somebody On The Way To The Cemetery,” is my favorite track on this recording. It is a fun tune that tells the story of someone being saved. Without Him, we are on our way to the grave. If we believe and trust in Him, we will live with Him in Heaven forever! “Waiting For You” is a beautiful song from the perspective of someone in Heaven waiting for their loved one to join them. “I Am Unshackled/Thank God I Am Free” is a mid-tempo anthem that tells of the transforming power of Christ. We are free in Christ! Because of Him, we are unshackled from the burdens of sin and this world. The album closes with another rousing anthem entitled “Ten Thousand Witnesses.” This powerful track tells of the Savior’s Love for us.
FINAL THOUGHTS:
MARK BISHOP DELIVERS ANOTHER WELL CRAFTED RECORD WITH HOME. BISHOP’S STELLAR VOCALS AND INCREDIBLE SONGWRITING ABILITY ARE SHOWCASED ON THIS HIGHLY ENJOYABLE ALBUM. HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDE: “I MET SOMEBODY ON THE WAY TO THE CEMETERY,” “HOME,” AND “I AM UNSHACKLED.”
