THOUGHTS:
There is nothing like pure, traditional Southern Gospel Music. This brand new CD from the Inspirations is just that. The rich legacy of this legendary group continues with this aptly titled recording celebrating their 60th anniversary. Featuring the powerhouse voices of Isaac Moore, Roland Kesterson, Luke Vaught, and Wyatt Austin, this incredible recording is sure to delight listeners of all ages. Southern Gospel Music is alive and well thanks to these ministry minded young people. The Legacy Continues is yet another top tier project from this group and is already in contention for best album of the year, for me personally.
This stellar album opens with the light, mid-tempo tune “I’m Going That Way.” Luke Vaught and Isaac Moore shine on the verses of this fun song that simply says: I am on the straight and narrow way to Heaven. Wyatt Austin’s smooth bass is also heard on a few step out lines.“I Own It All,” written by the legendary Ronny Hinson, is a simple yet profound tune that reminds us that Heaven awaits and we own it all! Our Heavenly Father died for us so that we can be there with Him forever. The first single “Come To Well,” also from the pen of Ronny Hinson, is a catchy quartet tune that tells the story of the woman at the well. It urges listeners to come to the Well of Living Water. If you drink this water, you will never thirst again! Wyatt Austin’s classic smooth bass is featured on the choruses. Luke Vaught is featured on the tender mid-tempo ballad “I Can See Calvary.” This great song encourages listeners to look to Calvary and remember Christ’s Sacrifice. Whenever you’re feeling low and discouraged, remember Christ loves you and that He climbed that mountain for you. “Walking With Jesus” is another fun, classic style quartet tune. Isaac Moore’s signature tenor shines on the second verse while Wyatt Austin shines on the step-out lines on the choruses.“Red Sea Miracle” is another fun upbeat tune that reminds us that God is faithful and brings us through our trials. The second verse features the smooth bass voice of Wyatt Austin, who is one of Southern Gospel’s best young bass singers on the road today. Roland Kesterson takes the lead on “My Name’s Already There,” a tender ballad that simply says: I have never been to Heaven, but my name is already there! Isaac Moore shines on “Rest For The Weary Soul,” which reminds us that in Jesus, there is rest for our weary souls. The group then brings back a classic (from 1980’s Sing Me A Gospel Song) with “He Sent Him For Me.” This powerful old song simply says: God sent Jesus for me. He sent His only Son to die on the cross to save my soul! Amen! This incredible album closes with a fun praise filled tune entitled “Glory, Glory Jesus Won.” What a celebration up in Heaven there must have been when Jesus rose!
